    I'm not interested in belt ranks - can't I just train?

    We're not really interested in belt ranks, either - for us the belt colors are primarily an indication of the techniques with which you should be familiar, so that we know at a glance to whom we can show other, more advanced techniques. If an instructor who hasn't taught in a while comes in, or we have a guest instructor, this lets them know who's where as well.
